A nerve impulse is like a very simple message: either on or off, because there are so many neurons which are connected to one another, this most complicated messages throughout the whole of the body’s nervous system.

As a nerve impulse arrives at the junction between two nerve cells, it is carried across the gap or synapse by chemicals called neurotransmitters. These contact sensitive areas in the next nerve cell, and the nerve impulse is carried along
